The Festival Internacional de Escultura em Areia (FIESA) (International Festival for Sand Sculptures) is a unique attraction, being considered as the most important event of this type in the world, and the unique to take place in the Iberian Peninsula. Taking place during summer, the festival gathers around fifty artists who sculp figures which might reach 12 meters tall, using nearly 40.000 tons of sand.
