In partnership with aicep Global Parques, the NEXUS Agenda and ZALSINES were promoted at the 20th Edition of Singapore Maritime Week, with the support of ADRAL- Alentejo Regional Development Agency.
The 20th Edition of Singapore Maritime Week took place from April 20 to 24 and served as a key forum for discussing the main trends and challenges in the shipping industry, particularly in crucial areas such as innovation, digitalization and decarbonisation.
In collaboration with aicep Global Parques, and the support of ADRAL - Alentejo Regional Development Agency and the Portuguese Embassy in Singapore, the main goal of this participation was to promote the SINES brand as a leading port, industrial and logistics complex, positioning it as an important hub in the port and logistics sector.
In this context, this year’s presence was strengthened by an institutional booth, where, besides APS - Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority, S.A, and aicep Global Parques, some partners from the NEXUS Agenda also participated, such as DEVLOPL by LEVIAHUB and SEAPOWER.
The promotion of several products to be delivered by the NEXUS Agenda set the tone for the national participation, with particular emphasis, in what concerns APS, to the Port Cyber Arena and the Open Syllo. Furthermore, the Port of Sines was invited to take part in a cybersecurity Table Top Exercise for the third year in a row, an initiative led by MPA - Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, bringing together port recognised internationally as benchmarks in this field. This participation is aligned with the Port Cyber Arena initiative, an innovative project promoting training activities within the scope of cybersecurity and cyber resilience, specifically tailored to the port and logistics sector.
Besides the participation in the event itself, there was also opportunity to strengthen institutional cooperation between APS and PSA International, through bilateral meetings attended by the Port of Sines’ CEO, Pedro do ó Ramos.
Sines’ presence at an event that brings together the leading international players, held in what is widely regarded as the global technological hub of the shipping industry, further reinforces the port’s global positioning, contributing to the fulfilment of its internationalisation strategy, particularly in promoting and commercialising the products developed by the NEXUS Agenda.
It is also worth highlighting that Singapore stands as the world’s leading hub for green bunkering, a segment that has been gaining attention at the Port of Sines since July 2025, with the launch of ship-to-ship LNG- Liquefied Natural Gas bunkering operations, an innovative service within the national maritime port sector. On the other hand, this participation is particularly relevant in the context of the port’s decarbonisation and energy transition process, alongside ongoing investments at the ZILS - Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone, focused on new fuels such as green ammonia, e-methanol and green hydrogen.
