The Port of Sines participated in Intermodal South America, which took place in São Paulo, Brazil, from 22nd to 24th of April, integrating the APP - Ports of Portugal stand. This venue brings together the main South American stakeholders in the port, maritime transport, and logistics sectors, being also an excellent opportunity for networking with import and export companies.
Being agri-food bulk, minerals, and containerised cargo the types of cargo offering more potential for the Brazilian market, Sines’ participation focused on highlighting the full potential of the Sines Multipurpose Terminal, which offers ideal conditions for establishing access hubs for these Brazilian products into the Iberian Peninsula, as well as these cargoes redistribution to other markets. Within this scope, the presence of representatives from the ETE Group and the terminal’s concessionaire, Portsines O.P., was particularly significant, allowing the promotion of a comprehensive and well-structured value proposition, while facilitating direct contact and productive interaction among the various stakeholders.
As for containerized cargo, the strategy was to promote the existing direct regular services between Sines Container Terminal (Terminal XXI) and several Brazilian ports, which offer excellent connectivity for import and export companies on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to the venue, and on April 23, the Portuguese ports held a session at the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo, during which the Port of Sines presented key opportunities to the Brazilian market to a group of 60 entrepreneurs and investors serving the commercial trades between Portugal and Brazil.
This promotional initiative was framed within the Invest in Alentejo Project, coordinated by ADRAL – the Alentejo Regional Development Agency.
