Sherry WEI, Managing Partner of CALB (Europe) S.A., was received by APS - Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority Board of Directors, on April 24.
Accompanied by the project’s Plant Manager, Sherry WEI visited the terminals that will serve CALB’s production in Sines. There was also opportunity for a detailed presentation on the port, where the physical characteristics providing this infrastructure a unique capacity to operate any ships and cargoes were highlighted. In addition, the competitive and efficient logistics services provided by Sines to the Iberian exporters and importers were also enhanced, not only the ones offered by the port, but also the remaining stakeholders’.
It must be recalled that CALB is developing a state-of-the-art lithium battery unit in Sines, with a production capacity of 15 GWh of energy storage. The plant is expected to be fully operating by 2028, being the construction due to begin in 2025. The project will involve a total investment of around two billion euros, creating 1,800 direct jobs and having a significant impact on the Portuguese economy.
