As part of the visit to Angola by the Prime Minister, António Costa, which resulted in the signing of several cooperation agreements between the two countries, the APS - Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Development of Barra do Dande Society, on the 5th of June, which seeks to promote and consolidate cooperation in the maritime-port sector in terms of environmental sustainability and digital transition in both countries.

As a result of the existing relationship in the cooperation network of APLOP - Portuguese Language Ports Association, and aligned with the European strategy of the Global Gateway, which aims to promote smart, clean and safe connections in the digital, energy and transport sectors, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties seeks to establish and develop sustainable, green and digital logistics corridors, aiming to increase connectivity on a global scale.

With the signing of this Memorandum, these parties recognize the potential for synergy and mutual interest in establishing a partnership and cooperation relationship that strives to enhance the added value of the geostrategic location and the projects under development in the Port of Sines, from a perspective of the development of a "Hub" and a logistical corridor with Angola, for the Agribusiness, critical raw materials and Green Hydrogen segments, as well as the recognized merit of the integrated development project of Barra do Dande, which aims to guarantee food security, sustainable energy and the economic and industrial development of Angola.
