The report by the World Bank and the consultancy firm S&P Global places the Port of Sines as the 3rd most efficient in Europe and 30th in the world, in a list of 370 ports worldwide. The report called "The Container Port Performance Index 2021" aims to be a reference point for the different global economic agents with regard to the efficiency of ports which handle containerized cargo.

This indicator takes into account the time the ships spend in port, from entry to the end of operations, revealing the performance of various stakeholders, from traffic control and pilotage services, towing and mooring, dispatch by the various authorities, supplies and, of course, the loading and unloading of containers guaranteed by the concessionaire. This performance reflects and reinforces the strategy of the Port of Sines in this type of cargo, with the registration in 2021 of a new record, for a total above 1.8 million TEU and a growth of 13% compared to the previous year.

In another study, the Port of Sines was considered the 19th largest port in the European Union, considering the tonnage of cargo handled in all terminals, climbing one place in the ranking of the specialized magazine "Transportes XXI", after having registered the seventh largest annual growth among EU ports in 2021. In 2021, Sines handled 46.6 million tons, a 10% increase over the previous year.

These two international recognitions demonstrate the ability of the entire Sines port community to present high productivity rates in operations, ensuring greater competitiveness for companies located in its hinterland.
