The Port of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) was represented at the 38th edition of the Ovibeja agricultural fair with a promotional stand, with the aim of publicizing the importance of the port in the region, in the country and in the global context, presenting the expansion projects of the Port of Sines. Special emphasis will be placed on the expansion of the containerized cargo segment, namely the works underway at the Container Terminal (Terminal XXI), which aim to double current capacity, as well as the new container terminal project, the Vasco da Gama Terminal.
Under the theme "How to Feed the Planet", the fair, which ran from April 21 to 25, featured eight covered pavilions and outdoor spaces, proposing to highlight and promote, in addition to agricultural sustainability, the companies in the region, with particular focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. Several personalities from political life visited the event, with emphasis on the presence of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who was present at the stand of the Port of Sines.
The participation in this type of event is of great importance in the port authority's strategy, since the Alentejo is part of the natural hinterland of the Port of Sines, and the port has a symbiotic relationship with this region where very relevant projects related to the agri-food industry are being developed, and logically, Sines is the maritime gateway to international trade.
