Containerized Cargo continued to grow in the Port of Sines in 2018; Terminal XXI handled 1,75 millions of TEU, thus corresponding to 5% over the previous year.

With a total throughput of 22 million TONS, Containerized Cargo grew 5,5% over the homologous period, thus reinforcing the Container Terminal – Terminal XXI share within the total cargo handled, already representing 46% of the port’s total throughput.

In what concerns total throughput, Sines handled 47,9 million TONS, which corresponded to an homologous decrease of 4%. This reduction is due to the technical outage of both the Sines’ Refinery and the Repsol Petrochemical Complex and the diminishing in coal handling in a year of high rainfall, with less power supply produced from non-renewable energy sources.

The LNG must still be enhanced, with an excellent performance resulting on an increase of 5,5% over the previous year, totalling 2,8 millions of TONS handled.
