Minister of Infrastructure and Housing visited Port of Sines

On November 15, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, visited the Port of Sines accompanied by the Secretary of State for Communications, Alberto Souto de Miranda, with the goal to follow the development of the planned investment projects.

After a working meeting with the APS’ Board of Directors, the government members visited the operational areas of the port. In the Systems and Helpdesk Center, were presented the works that are being developed within the scope of JUL - Single Logistics Window, and at the Traffic Control Center it was presented the entire process related to the control of the maneuvers of the vessels calling the Port of Sines.

This was followed by a visit to the Sines Container Terminal (Terminal XXI), where the head of the concessionaire PSA Sines presented the project for the expansion of this terminal, which represents a private investment of 660.9 M €, to increase the installed capacity from the current 2.3 million to 4.1 million TEU (standard measurement of a 20 feet container).

The visit ended at the East Breakwater, providing a privileged view of the area where the new Vasco da Gama Terminal will be located, whose international public tender is on the market.
