Sines closes the 1st half of 2017 with a total of 25,8M Tons handled, thus corresponding to an increase of 7% over 2016.
Containers continue to lead the sustainable growth of the port, with a total handling of 926.212 TEU, 34% more than the previous year’s results, which corresponded to 11,8M Tons (25% more than in 2016).
Dry Bulk grew 7%, especially due to the good result achieved by coal handling - almost 2,8M Tons, a 13% increase over the homologous period.
Even though Liquid Bulk cargo decreased, in nearly 6%, LNG registered an important growth, surpassing the 1M Ton. In fact, and despite having decreased, the volume of cargo handled during these first six months comply with the average of the previous years', with exception for 2016 when Sines benefited from the stoppage of the Leixões’ monobuoy.
