A delegation from the United States Embassy in Lisbon, led by the Commercial Advisor, Lora Baker, visited the Port of Sines on April 19 with the objective of deepening knowledge about this port infrastructure.

The opportunities for strengthening trade relations, using Sines as the Atlantic port of Europe, were discussed during the meeting with the Board of Directors of APS – Ports of Sines and Algarve Authority.

In fact, the Port of Sines currently offers several regular weekly services to US ports, located on the Atlantic coast, Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Coast, through the Panama Canal, whose total volume of traffic has been increasing in recent years.

On the other hand, the existence of a Natural Gas Terminal with capacity to receive this type of product originating in the United States was also a detailed subject during the event, as well as the port expansion plans, especially the new container terminal - Terminal Vasco da Gama.
