On February 10, the Minister of the Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino, presented the "Strategy to Increase Port Competitiveness" for the Port of Sines, in an event that brought together the main representatives of the port community and Mayor of Sines, Nuno Mascarenhas and APS’ President José Luís Cacho.
Ana Paula Vitorino presented the vision for the Port of Sines, benefiting from the privileged location in the Atlantic, allied to the increase of capacity in container traffic to attract opportunities, aiming to put Sines in the Top 10 of container terminals in Europe.
In her speech, the governor presented the strategic goals and targets foreseen, the action plan for the 2017-2026 period and the activities related to this strategy, highlighting also transversal projects such as JUPIII / JUL, VTS Modernization and implementation of the legal concept of Dry Port.
José Luís Cacho focused on the presentation of the specific projects of the Port of Sines, namely the Expansion of Terminal XXI (3rd phase) and the development of the new container terminal - Vasco da Gama Terminal. These two projects aim to respond to the existing growing demand and capacity constraints in Terminal XXI, as well as to increase the competitiveness of the Port of Sines through the phased construction of a new terminal.
