As a preliminary action to the Tall Ships Races 2017, about 700 bottles of wine from seven different wine-growers from Alentejo Litoral region were placed underwater, at 6m, 10m and 17m deep in order to test its aging at the sea with different conditions of pressure, light and temperature. Monthly analyzes will be carried out to evaluate its evolution. Similar experiences had been done in Douro River and Alqueva, but it is the first time it is tested in salty water.
Some of these bottles will be handed to the captains of the sailboats participating in the Tall Ships Races 2017, to be held between April 28th and May 1st next year in Sines.
