In the first six months of this year, the Port of Sines handled more than 24 million of tons of cargo, representing a growth of 10.5% in comparison with the same period of the last year, strengthening its growing path.
The handling of 11.8 millions of tons of Liquid Bulk and 9.5 millions of tons of General Cargo, were the biggest contribution of the port’s activity and its grow represents 88,6% of all cargo handling at the Port of Sines. Still related to the General Cargo, in which containers cargo is included, highlights to the positive grow of 17.6%, in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
On what containers concerns, the Port of Sines assured an accumulated grow of 2.4%, over the same period, reaching 692.866 TEU (twenty feet equivalent unit).
Alongside this development and recording also a good performance, the handling of vessels at the Port of Sines registered a new accumulated record on the first six months of the year with a total of 1,224 vessels corresponding to 45,754,491 GT (gross tonnage), representing a grow of 18.2% and 22.7% (respectively) over the first half of the preceding year.
