Port operations in the Algarve ports increased in 2015

The Ports of Algarve registered a 7.9% increase in cargo during 2015 with a total of 396,276 tones handled at the Port of Faro (mainly cement and clinker) and slightly above 1% growth in passenger numbers at the Port of Portimão.

During the 2015 was also visible to an increase in the number of ships on both Algarve port infrastructures, with a 24% growth over the previous year, registering a total of 155 ships’ calls.

At the Port of Portimão, more geared to the cruise traffic, there were 70 ships, plus 52.2% year on year, while at the Port of Faro there were 85 vessels’ calls, representing an increase of 7.6%.
