In 2015, the Port of Sines reinforced its position in the European ranking of container terminals, reaching the 17th position, with a total cargo handling of 1,33M TEU, registering an annual increase of 8%, which matched the third best growth rate in Europe, according to Transporte XXI’s latest review.

In fact, Sines has been recording significant growth rates in containerized cargo, and in the last three years managed to climb eight positions in the European ranking, moving from 25th place in 2013 to 17th in 2015.

Given this year’s first quarter results, in which containerized cargo recorded an annual increase of 11%, corresponding to 309.822 TEU, in 2016 is again expected to register interesting results, being open the possibility of a new increase in the European market.
