In a joint initiative of APS – Port of Sines and Algarve Authority, CPSI – Sines Port Community and AGEPOR, a clarification session on the new CAU - Union Customs Code was held, under the responsibility of Bernadette Lopes. The session took place in the APS’ Auditorium, on the 14th of June, with the participation of various entities of the Sines Port Community.

The CAU came into force on last 1st of May and aims to simplify procedures and speed up the processes involved in European legislation regarding the handling of goods across European Countries, promoting the celerity and efficiency of services provided.

It is expected that its full implementation in the EU takes place in 2020, and the main benefits for the Member States are reflected in the increased competitiveness of the commercial trades, safeguarding the economic and financial interests in the Union.
