Port of Sines handled 43.9 million tons in 2015

The Port of Sines closed the year 2015 with more than 43.9 million tons of cargo handled, representing an annual growth of 17%, to which contributed all cargo segments.

With regard to containerized cargo were handled 1.33 million TEU, 8.5% more than last year, maintaining the sustained growth that this type of cargo has had since Terminal XXI entered into operation.

The segment of dry bulk, which includes mainly coal, was the fastest growing, with an increase of 19.5% to 5.9 million tons. The liquid bulk, which includes crude oil, refined products and natural gas, recorded 21.5 million tons, representing an annual growth of 19.1%.

In 2015 the Port of Sines received 2,187 vessels, 9.2% more than the previous year, while the total GT increased 14% to more than 80 million tons, showing that the vessels operated in Sines are increasingly bigger.
