Port of Portimão hosted a Powerboat World Championship Race

The Port of Portimão was the stage of the F1 Powerboat Grand Prix of Portugal, an event comprised within the World Championship, between the 29th and 31st of July. After 4 years of interregnum, the Arade estuary was the home of this competition, in an area under the jurisdiction of APS – Ports of Sines and Algarve Authority.

 

With 9 teams and 18 drivers, among them the Portuguese Duarte Benavente who reached the eighth place, the race was won by the current world champion, Frenchman Philippe Chiappe.

Portimão was the host city of this competition for the 13th time, evidencing the excellent conditions offered by the Arade estuary for the performance of nautical events. APS provided the necessary logistic support for the success of this important and prestigious international event.
