The Port of Sines received, on February 17, the visit of the Ambassador of South Africa, Keitumetse Matthews, who intended to meet on-site the potential of this port infrastructure as well as the Sines’ Industrial and Logistic Zone (ZILS).
During the visit, the President of APS, João Franco, highlighted the positioning of the Port of Sines in the international port market, the existing business relationship with the ports of South Africa. It was also emphasized the developing the LSW – Logistic Single Window and the operation of Ecoslops, which produces marine fuel from waste oil collected from ships, two projects that can be applied in South African ports. The President of aicep Global Parques, Francisco Mendes Palma, also attended the meeting, presenting existing offer at the ZILS for locating companies.
It is recalled that the Port of Sines offers already weekly direct links with South Africa and in particular with the ports of Coega, Durban and Cape Town, which may potentiate the increase of the cargo handled between the two countries.
