On 9 October, about 250 architecture students and teachers from 17 universities in the country visited the Port of Sines, and were welcomed by the President of the Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority, João Franco.

The visit took place as part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennial, in which Sines - Urban Center, Industry and Port Structure was the chosen territory for the 4th edition of the Triennial Lisbon Universities Millennium bcp Award, taking place from October to December 2016. The purpose of the visit was to observe the infrastructures of the port as well as the natural characteristics and the geographical environment in which it is located.

The Lisbon Architecture Triennial is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to investigate, stimulate and promote the thought and practice in architecture, performing a great forum for debate, reflection and dissemination crossing disciplinary and geographic boundaries, every three years.
