APS President participated as a speaker at the 1st Conference of the Journal of Maritime Economy

The president of the Port Ports of Sines and Algarve Authority, João Franco, attended the first Conference of the Journal of Maritime Economy, on 2 June at the Museum House of Stories Paula Rego in Cascais.

Under the motto "For what do we need the sea?" the conference was based on the discussion of issues related to the importance and benefits of the sea to Portugal.

João Franco was one of the speakers invited to the panel "What Ports and Maritime Transport We Want?" moderated by Jorge d'Almeida, from the Clover Venture Partners, which also featured Peter Virtuoso, from the ETE Group, and Miguel Paiva Gomes, from Transinsular .

The relevance of energy to the ports and changing the energy policy framework, the limited importance of the new Panama Canal to Portugal, in terms of trade flows, new forms of surveillance of a space that can reach 4 million km2 or the recovery of the shipbuilding and repair in Portugal, were among the topics discussed at this meeting.

The Conference "For what do we need the sea?" was part of the set program for the Blue Week, which also featured the Blue Business Forum event held at FIL, 4-6 June and where the APS - Administration ports of Sines and the Algarve, SA participated with an institutional stand.
